About Streetsmart Planning
Streetsmart Planning began in 2016 with a mission to integrate climate, health, and equity into transportation practice by building alliances among diverse partners for transportation reform, advancing best practices in transportation that fully account for impacts on communities, and highlighting evidence-based strategies that meet community goals. Streetsmart's flagship product, the research synthesis and resource clearinghouse, remains publicly available on this website (see Clearinghouse). In 2022, Streetsmart Planning became an LLC to better serve clients seeking support in creating healthy, equitable, and sustainable urban and transportation plans and frameworks.
Streetsmart Planning LLC is owned by Kelly Rodgers, PhD, MLA, LEED-AP, who has 16 years of experience working across disciplines to create healthy, equitable, and sustainable cities, from developing walkable communities to identifying levers for organizational change. Her research addresses transportation as a health determinant, the institutionalization and influence of indicators in transportation, and evidence-based policy. Kelly is chair of the ITE Transportation and Health Committee and serves on the steering committee of Planning for Health Equity, Advocacy, and Leadership (PHEAL) and leads its community of practice. She is a co-founder and member of the American Planning Association Health Equity and Planning Interest Group and inaugural member of the Transportation Research Board Committee on Transportation and Public Health (AME70).
