Successful implementation of plans and projects depends on engaging with key stakeholders to get necessary input and buy-in. To integrate concerns about climate change, public health, and equity into transportation, engagement needs to occur at several levels:
  • Between different departments within an agency, such as public works and planning
  • Between different levels of government, such as the local agency and the metropolitan planning organization
  • Between diverse sectors, such as transportation and public health fields
  • With community members to understand the needs and hopes for their community.
