Public Transit

Picture
Public transit (aka public transportation, mass transit) refers to transportation systems in which people travel together in shared vehicles. Typically owned and operated by public agencies, some common examples include buses, bus rapid transit, light rail, and streetcars (pictured, left).

Note that there may be more than one public transit agency operating in a region.
